London Elgin Middlesex Crime Stoppers Program Impacting Communities

During January 2018 London Elgin Middlesex Crime Stoppers launched its annual Secondary School video contest. The theme this year was: “How a criminal record can affect your future”.

Pictured is the winning team from Mother Theresa shown with board members David Immucci and Nancy Downard. Second place went to St. Mary’s and third to the Saunders team.

London Elgin Middlesex Crime Stoppers honored five businesses and individuals who have been outstanding supporters of the program. They included Bruce Burnham (shown with board members Fred Schell and Al Gibson), Westervelt College staff (shown with board members Ashley MacLean and Al Gibson), Bruce Zubick, Covent Garden Market and Positive Identity. They have provided monetary and in-kind support for many years. We thank them for their continuing support.

London Elgin Middlesex Crime Stoppers collaborated with local agencies in awareness campaigns. With London Police and Strathroy Caradoc Police, our program co-sponsored a campaign to fight truck theft in our area. Dozens of pickups have been stolen for parts and we encourage people to lock their vehicles and report suspicious activity.

London Elgin Middlesex Crime Stoppers also partnered with the Salvation Army, the OPP and other agencies in co-sponsoring an awareness campaign about the purchase of sexual services in Canada. The messages were displayed on London Transite vehicles and on billboards in the area.
