SUBMIT A TIP

First, please review the Disclaimer at the bottom of this page before submitting a tip.

Whether submitting your tip by phone or online, please include as many details as you can. Remember, we have no way of getting in touch with you as we do not ask for your name or contact info. Please see our helpful hints on "What Makes A Good Tip".

All tips are edited to remove content that may identify the tipster.

Please do not attempt to seek out additional information about a crime on your own. Leave this to the investigative team. Your tip will be forwarded to the proper investigative agencies.

As Crime Stoppers does not know the identity of the tipster, and has no way to contact him/her, it is up to the tipster to check back with Crime Stoppers to see if their information qualifies for a cash reward. Checking in on your tip periodically is the best way to find out if Crime Stoppers has questions about your Tip.

Calling Our Tip Line

When calling in your tip, our friendly operator will welcome you to the tip line and ask you a few questions to help you recall as many details as possible which will enhance the value and usefulness of your tip. We will not ask for any personal information about yourself and we do no use call display or any other phone tracking service.

At the end of the conversation, Crime Stoppers will give you your own TIP ID number and password. This ID number will identify your tip for any future inquiries you may wish to make in following up the status of your tip or even adding additional details that you may become aware of.

To submit your tip by phone, call:

Submitting Your Tip Online

The Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers, as well as all local Ontario Crime Stoppers programs, use a highly secure online web portal called "P3 Tips" to input and save your tip information in a centralized database.

The online submission method also allows you to upload videos, audio files and photos that can greatly enhance the value, accuracy and usefulness of your tip.

At the end of the online submission process, you will be given a unique TIP ID number and password that identifies your tip.  This ID number can be used for future inquires to check on the status of your tip or add additional details that may come to mind.

Disclaimer

By providing information that Crime Stoppers will share with law enforcement agencies, you are providing an important and valuable public service.  We fully understand that disclosure of your identity might put you at risk and we do everything we can to protect your anonymity.  However, that anonymity may be open to challenge in the following situations:

  • A call to Crime Stoppers made with the intention of furthering criminal activity or interfering with the administration of justice.
  • A party who is guilty of a crime cannot use Crime Stoppers to try to divert the blame onto someone else.  Crime Stoppers cannot be used to try to “frame” an innocent person.
  • There is evidence that disclosure of some or all of a tip is necessary to establish someone’s innocence.
  • Do not send any sexually explicit images or videos because they will be forwarded directly to law enforcement and the sender’s anonymity cannot be assured. These will not be treated as a Crime Stoppers tip and will not be eligible for a reward.
